Glenn Beck and the rise of new McCarthyism
This action alert comes from the Center for Media Justice.
As many of you probably know, Glenn Beck, conservative radio and television show host, successfully browbeat green jobs White House czar Van Jones into resigning his post.
Now he is targeting a number of other individuals, including Cass Sunstein and Carol Browner. But he is also targeting Mark Lloyd, who is a long-time media reform advocate who has gone to work at the FCC. Ironically, Mark is nothing close to a White House aid, instead he is an associate general counsel at the Federal Communications Commission. Since Mark has spent his career fighting for and defending things like localism and responsiveness in radio, the media reform community has pulled together some information and other material in case anyone is interested in doing reporting or discussion. Of course, we do not want to fan the flames, but we do want the information to be available to correct the record. There have been a number of calls discussing possible opportunities to make an alternate echo chamber once some of these stories start to go viral.
